Born in the fog of San Francisco, Nicolette Daskalakis is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, and internationally-exhibited photographer. She has directed successful content for a variety of clients and companies, including BuzzFeed, HelloGiggles, L'Oréal, SuperDeluxe, We Are Mitú, and numerous independent brands. Her background in fine art, poetry, dance, and music informs her work with a rich understanding of color, rhythm, and voice.
After working in both analog photography and print journalism, Nicolette first began applying her skills to documentary film and created several non-fiction shorts for community television. While attending USC, she quickly made the transition to narrative filmmaking. Her award-winning junior thesis film, Heart to Heart (2012), has been featured in festivals across the United States and was licensed by Gaia TV and Spiritual Cinema Circle. In 2015, Nicolette founded iconico Arts, a multi-media production company that strives to create diverse, inspired content, with a particular interest in queer and female-driven stories. Under the iconico umbrella Nicolette has created a multitude of projects, including the award-winning short film “s h o o t" and her first book, “because you’re now banging a French girl."
Nicolette strives to create unique, intimate work that challenges the separation of artistic mediums and has a passion for LGBTQ+ and female-driven content. She is based out of Los Angeles.
