Michelle tells cinematic stories about the human condition, mining reality for humour, with a touch of magic. She meticulously crafts each character and their world from real-life observations. Her short ELLEN IS LEAVING won Best Narrative Short Film at SXSW Film Festival and San Francisco Film Festival.
Her earlier shorts screened at Aspen, Rotterdam, Sydney, Edinburgh, Clermont-Ferrand and Melbourne where she attended the MIFF Accelerator Programme. She has attended the Berlinale Talent Lab and won a script development internship at Killer Films in New York through Script-to-Screen. Her online content has amassed over two million views and has showcased on Short of the Week and Vimeo Staff Pick Premiere.
Recently, Michelle has hit record on youth culture for Vice, Catalogue Magazine, Spark and Nike. Yet she clicks equally with older generations. Priming parents to talk with their teens about alcohol for in her commercial work, and documenting the quirky world of small town folks wearing paper mache horses’ heads and building dioramas in FANTASY CAVE.
Currently, Michelle works as a commercials director for Goodoil Films.
