Alice Trueman is an award-winning scriptwriter and director. She is currently under commission to write a short film for Free Tibet; developing a feature film script with Vault Films; and is in production on a forthcoming online sketch show with Almond Tree Productions.
Alice is the writer and director of the short films JAS, which won the Red Rock Entertainment Film Award and EGG, which starred Sally Phillips and screened at various festivals, including Official Selections for Encounters Film Festival, Aesthetica Film Festival and London Short Film Festival. Alice also worked extensively on the BBC Anim8 competition winner, MYSTERY SOUP, developing and writing the concept with the series’ creators.
Alice has an MA in Scriptwriting from Goldsmiths University of London where she was made a double winner of their film competition which saw her early writing showcased at BAFTA. Since graduating she has gone on to work on projects for both screen and stage, was selected by the BBC for one of their Continuing Drama trainee programmes and has worked as a script editor for the BFI film fund.
Alice is joint-artistic director of Broken Leg Theatre. In 2016, her co-written play, THREE GENERATIONS OF WOMEN, received 5 star and 4.5 star reviews and a Lyn Gardner Pick Of The Week during its UK tour. Previous to that her stage play MY SECOND LIFE won an Argus Angel Award at the Brighton Fringe and transferred to London.
